Making Strides in Federal Cannabis Lawsuit

June 1st, 2019

Earlier this week, the Federal Appeals Court reinstated the complaint and declined to dismiss the Federal Cannabis Lawsuit. The lawsuit was filed by several cannabis patients and advocates challenging the federal scheduling of cannabis. According to a comment by their legal representation Michael Hiller, “This case represents the first time in history that a lawsuit challenging the constitutionality of the CSA has survived dismissal.” This is amazing news for those advocating for the de-scheduling of cannabis. This means the court put the federal government on notice to make a decision for... Read More

This week, Athletes for CARE, the not-for-profit advocacy group founded by former professional athletes, decided it was time to stand up to the World Anti-Doping Agency’s (WADA) policy of cannabis being a banned substance. With more than 150 athletes representing eight countries, 50 professional sports leagues, and 28 different sports, they filed a letter to the members of WADA’s 2021 Code Drafting Team requesting THC and other natural cannabinoids found in cannabis be removed from their banned substance list. CBD for Eye Health

April 27th, 2019

Research on CBD and eye health has been fairly limited due to federal legality, but the passing of the 2018 United States Farm Bill removed CBD from its classification as a Schedule 1 Drug. This will lead to more freedom in the ability to conduct more studies. The research that has been conducted shows both pros and cons for CBD as related to eye health. CBD is one of several cannabinoids produced in cannabis. Cannabinoids interact with the body’s endocannabinoid system by binding to the CB1 and CB2 receptors in a most commonly analogized lock and key method. According to researchers at the School... Read More
