March 17th, 2018

Self care may be the most important concept to overall health and wellness. Now the community in Boulder, CO has another opportunity to care for their body and mind, while incorporating cannabis, mindfulness, and activities that promote growth and self love. Once a month, You Canna Be Well is hosting Self Care Sundays at the Phil Lewis Art Gallery and Studio. Each class will have its own theme, or focus, and will encourage participants to practice self care. I had the pleasure of attending the very first of these Self Care Sundays, which was Defining Your Purpose for 2018. The goal of the event... Read More

March 3rd, 2018

With 11 races scheduled this year, including an 8 person Ragnar Relay over 2 days, the MJFITNUT Team will be logging in some serious miles. Each one of those miles spent training and competing will be fueled by cannabis. Does this mean cannabis flower and concentrates, or edibles and topicals? All of the above. Does it also mean hemp seeds, hemp protein powders, and other hemp food products? You bet it does. These routines are that of a cannabis athlete, and the miles cannabis athletes put in could be called cannabis miles. MJFITNUT has committed to donate their cannabis miles to charity, and you... Read More

Cannabis for Seniors

February 24th, 2018

With the legalization of cannabis across more states and the stigma surrounding the plant and its users shifting, so has the demographic of people benefiting from the plant. According to the CDC, Americans aged 55-64 who use marijuana regularly has risen by 455%. Those aged 65 and older has risen by 333% from 2002-2014. Why is this shift occurring and how can seniors benefit from cannabis? We know that each person has their own endocannabinoid system. The endocannabioid system has recently been recognized as the most important modulatory system within the body. It is responsible for regulating... Read More

Tips For Training as a Couple

February 17th, 2018

I train with my wife on a regular basis. We run trails together, hit the gym together, and we take recovery days together. Training as a couple can help you both achieve your goals, and strengthen your relationship. She has pushed me to become faster, and run longer distances. Her encouragement and support have been critical to my improvement. Training as a couple has improved our relationship by opening more communication, and allowing us to learn even more about each other. Learning how to train and compete together has been a process. Here are a few tips I’ve learned to help you train as a... Read More

Where Can I Get a Cannabis Massage in Colorado?

February 10th, 2018

Cindy Sovine and her team recently submitted their application to open Utopia, which will be the nation’s first full service cannabis spa. It will be a safe space for cannabis infused yoga and massages. They also plan to carry hemp products for health and beauty, as well as offering meditation, and acupuncture services. I attended the Seven Points World Tour, in Denver, where I had the pleasure of seeing Cindy speak in person. She has a very moving story, and her passion to advocate for the health benefits of cannabis is quite apparent. Although the application was just submitted recently, I’m... Read More

Who’s Playing High at The Super Bowl?

February 3rd, 2018

It’s time for the Super Bowl! I wonder how many of the athletes playing are consuming cannabis on a regular basis. Chances are, quite a few. Cannabis and football has been a hot topic over the past few years as more former NFL pros have come out of the green closet to advocate for its use as a medicine. Highlighted in Season 2 of the Netflix show, Disjointed, the Gridiron Cannabis Coalition got to make a public service announcement calling for the use of cannabis over opioids. The Gridiron Cannabis Coalition’s “mission is committed to the evolution of the natural healing elements... Read More

Proud To Be a NORML Athlete!

January 20th, 2018

If you’re a cannabis advocate, you know of NORML. For anyone who doesn’t, NORML is the National Organization For the Reform of Marijuana Laws. Their “mission is to move public opinion sufficiently to legalize the responsible use of marijuana by adults, and to serve as an advocate for consumers to assure they have access to high quality marijuana that is safe, convenient and affordable”.  Although NORML as a group is widely known, less people are aware of NORML Athletics. I’m going to change that, and you can help! I’m very excited to announce that both Heather and I are now official... Read More

Athletes train and fuel their bodies to operate at optimal levels in their sport. CBD is the non psychoactive compound found in cannabis. It is a non toxic, natural option that provides multiple mental and physical benefits. The recent announcement by the WADA (World Anti Doping Agency) to remove CBD from the banned substance list in 2018 provides a safer option to many athletes. With athletes and individuals allowed to consume CBD legally in all 50 states, it is diminishing the stigma surrounding cannabis and its users. It has the potential to provide a better quality of life when provided as... Read More
