Not So Fresh Baked

June 25th, 2017

Today I bring you another retail dispensary review!   Let me preface my review by saying, I am someone who suffers from extreme anxiety at times, especially when in new and uncomfortable situations.    In fact, my number one reason for using MJ is because of its positive effects on anxiety.   I share this with you so as you read on, you understand that some of my points are solely my experiences and may not reflect the experience others may have.   Anyway, without further ado… Fresh Baked Dispensary is a place that I’ve known about since it opened.   I went with a friend a few years... Read More

Confession Of A Budtender

June 20th, 2017

This week I was criticized by a reader for not offering a true “confession” like the title of this blog suggests. Alright I have a reader! The thing is though, there is not much to expose about being a budtender. There are no secrets that need uncovering, no whistleblowing that needs doing, and no oppressive leader that needs toppling. I am not an investigative journalist up here to call out the weed industry for their abuses of power, I am just a dude who works in a weed shop. “Breaking News! Nobody likes strains that are low in THC, more on this story next week”. I like to make fun of... Read More

Cannabis Craft Night: How To Make a Thai Stick to Share

June 20th, 2017

What is a Thai Stick?  Think of it as a cannabis version of a shish kabob made with your favorite strains all wrapped up to look like a well rounded cigar.  The Thai Stick became legendary back in the 60’s when soldiers returned from war with stories of powerful weed rolled tight to look like cigars that would burn for hours. With access to recreational cannabis, residents in legal states can revive the art of the legendary Thai Stick at home.  This vintage practice embraces the communal elements that bring people together.  If you are a hands-on person who likes to create works of art to... Read More

Cannabis’s Positive Impact on Colorado’s Unemployment Rate

June 18th, 2017

We see it every day, more and more people are moving to Colorado.  We see it in the prices of homes and rent, we see it while trying to do a commute that used to take 15 minutes and now takes 45, and we see its positive impacts on the economy.   The truth is Colorado has one of the strongest economies in the country and now with the country’s lowest unemployment rate, what’s not to love about the state?  Especially for stoners! In fact, according to a CNBC report, Colorado has the Nation’s lowest unemployment rate.  Colorado currently holds a jobless rate of 2.3 percent to the... Read More

OK Colorado, Time to Relax on the Packaging Laws

June 13th, 2017

Until recently Colorado’s little experiment has been overseen by a group charged with coordinating efforts to implement regulation for Colorado’s recreational and medical marijuana industries. This was a group of lawmakers and medical professionals made up to aid in the roll out of legalization. The group was recently disbanded by the governor, so it can be assumed that he feels the experiment has worked thus far. Hopefully, this also means that the cannabis industry will get a little break. Every six months or so, since 2014, this industry faces changes that cause our entire business model... Read More

Finding a Helping Hand on Pearl Street

June 11th, 2017

A few weeks ago, I was having dinner with a couple friends on Pearl Street.   As we were enjoying our meal, we started discussing this blog and some of the dispensaries I should check out – both in Boulder and others in the State.   We decided right then and there, after eating, we’d check out Helping Hand Dispensary which is located on Pearl between 10th and 11th. I’ll be honest, I’ve passed this dispensary a few times and never really given it much thought.  I had never gone in before or looked it up online, so walking in I had no preconceived notions at all.   My first instincts... Read More

Summer Buds

June 6th, 2017

With the abundance of new cannabis strains flooding the market every harvest, how is one supposed to choose? Weed is expensive and when you are looking at more variety than Rob Lowe had in the 80’s it is easy to feel overwhelmed that you may choose the wrong one, but seriously though, you will never pick the wrong one. It is always nice to go into a dispensary with a little familiarity though and that is what I am here to help with. Consider me your own personal research and development guy…for weed. This week I picked up some Watermelon Man and Maui Wowie. Here is my confession, lol. I smoked... Read More

Grow Your Career: 3 Cannabis Friendly Career Search Engines

June 4th, 2017

Let’s face it.  In 2017, searching for a good job (in an industry that you’re interested in and that pays the bills) is almost as lonely and desperate as looking for love on Tinder!  While networking, building your skills, and having the knowledge/skills needed are always important aspects when searching for the right job, it’s also important to be looking in the right areas for the best opportunities.   In the digital age, most opportunities are buried in an overload of online sites and career search engines.  Sites like LinkedIn, Craigslist, Monster.com, and Glassdoor are great when... Read More

Spoiler Alert, Marijuana Makes Money!

May 30th, 2017

On any average day, I would say I see more out-of-state visitors than Colorado ones. So, for the sake of this blog, I began asking customers their thoughts on how long they think it will be until they see any kind of a legalization within their own states. The response I got from most people was, “my state will be the last to legalize weed”. These are grown men and women telling me they have no hope for their state, meanwhile, everyone in line behind them is also from their home state. Why choose to be so dire about the possibilities of legalization back home, regardless of your state’s... Read More

Cannabis, in the name of freedom!

May 29th, 2017

What is Memorial Day?  No, it is NOT the official kick-off to summer, but instead a solemn day to remember fallen soldiers who took their last breath defending our freedom.  For our veterans, this ‘holiday’ is a reminder of war, uncertainty, and conflict.  However, the scars of loss and war go much deeper with a condition called PTSD.  But guess what, cannabis can help! What is PTSD? Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) is a condition that develops after one experiences or witnesses a traumatic event. In the US military, PTSD  affects, on average, about 15% of those who serve. In past... Read More
