Will Work for Weed and Benefits!

April 30th, 2017

A little over a year ago, I left a job as a corporate sales trainer for one of the country’s largest wireless carriers. There were a lot of reasons I left, but one of the biggest was that I was tired of working for corporate America. I wanted to work for a smaller company. I wanted to contribute more to a small organization who would value my work and talents, not just count me among one of their many drones. More specifically, I thought it would be cool to take my experience as a corporate professional and try to land a job in the cannabis industry. Now I wish I could write about how I’ve... Read More

The Shield vs. MMJ

April 29th, 2017

As 2017’s NFL Draft closes this evening, let’s take a look at the league’s policy regarding players’ cannabis consumption. Yesterday, Commissioner Goodell – welcomed by steady boos throughout the draft, every year (sparked, perhaps, by resentment toward his ~$35 Million salary, and his catering billionaire owners over player welfare and safety) – made a public statement on marijuana use, consistent with his previous rhetoric on the issue. Goodell basically maintains that the league will remain consistent with current medical research, and continue exploring potential... Read More

4/20 is the New Black (Friday)

April 23rd, 2017

We are now in the third year of legal recreational marijuana in the state of Colorado.  That means, this last Thursday, April 20th, better known as 4/20 (aka 420, 4:20) by potheads the world over, celebrated the third year of this special “holiday” in the state that started the legalization party.   The day is celebrated a variety of ways.   There are massive outdoor parties to mark the occasion (you all probably heard of reported headaches experienced at this year’s downtown event).   Gear is freely given out to help promote the day and their brands by local cannabis companies.  ... Read More

SENSIble Celebrations On The High Holiday

April 21st, 2017

Most cannabis consumers and cultivators do not require additional encouragement to celebrate their favorite cash crop. Still, the community has seen 4/20 grow from codeword, to an active movement on college campuses, and into a fully international cultural phenomenon. True to the Old English etymology, April 20 has become a holy day – where masses gather to collectively light-up, while dispensaries unroll their best deals and newest products – for those involved with cannabis culture. While many ‘outsiders’ still approach the date with irreverence (even annoyance), my personal... Read More

Happy Holidaze

April 18th, 2017

Well, it is that time of year again. It has been on everyone’s minds for the last few weeks. Nobody is sure what to expect but they all know it will be good. Ski season has ended, summer is on the horizon, and our annual April event is about to kick off. Vin Diesel and his buddies are back at it with another installment in the Fast and the Furious film franchise. Hahaha just kidding. Happy 420 everyone! I must say though, the correlation between the rise in April 20th celebrations and the comeback of Vin Diesel is an interesting connection that should not go unnoticed. If you work in the weed... Read More

The Farm’s Green Pastures

April 16th, 2017

Last week, I introduced you to The Farm.   I was very impressed with their website, and the way that they market themselves in general to Colorado’s cannabis consumers.  As I mentioned at the time, I felt that they did a lot on their site to set themselves apart from the competition.  Their website was clean, well structured, and full of information about them as a company and their products.  Based on what they were presenting, I had high hopes for my first visit, so I went the first chance I had. First things first, The Farm doesn’t look like your typical corner dispensary.   In fact,... Read More

Cannabis Health Quick Fix

April 12th, 2017

Welcome to Cannabis Health Quick Fix, where every week we explore fast facts about cannabis! This week, we clear up that whole indica vs. sativa thing posthaste. Did you know? There are two main species of cannabis plant, and each one grows differently and is known for producing different effects when ingested. Indica, the shorter of the plants with the wide leaves, is known for its ability to affect the body, giving its users what’s been called a “couch lock” feeling. Indica strains typically provide a mellow experience that calms the mind and is excellent to use at nighttime. Sativa,... Read More

High Expectations: An Introduction to The Farm

April 9th, 2017

Okay, so I’ll admit this, I’ve never visited The Farm – one of Boulder’s most popular recreational dispensaries.   In fact, to be super honest, I live closer to the Denver/Aurora area and since I loathe traffic, I try to shop dispensaries near me.  However, if I said I had never heard of The Farm, I’d be lying as well.  Some of my weed-loving friends and acquaintances rave about The Farm, so much so that it made me make it this week’s Canna-Business Review focus. Now before we jump into what an actual visit to The Farm is like (stay tuned for an upcoming blog post) or their customer... Read More

Featuring.. the 14er Boulder!

April 7th, 2017

**Strain Highlight: Strawberry Banana**   With cannabis growth, increased demand, control and gene pool, the names we ascribe new strains greatly influences the industry’s assimilation into our popular culture. Sure, there are novelty strains – like those named for famous stoners: Willy Nelson, Bill Maher, and Snoop Dogg. And, often, it may seem like growers and dispensaries simply pull names from their head-space with a little help from their product, like a good title meant to attract a target audience. However, strains are usually named for very specific qualities breeders seek... Read More

Cannabis Health Quick Fix

April 5th, 2017

Welcome to Cannabis Health Quick Fix, where every week we explore fast facts about cannabis! For the first installment, let’s talk weed and working out. Did you know? A marijuana high and what’s known as “runner’s high” (that amazing feeling you get when you’re flooded with endorphins during exercise) are not so different. It turns out that in addition to releasing those feel-good endorphins, exercise lays it down on the body’s endocannabinoid system in much the same way marijuana does. Apparently, when you exercise, the levels of human-produced cannabinoids rises, gifting you for... Read More
